You’ve told us that you receive too many emails from us, that not all our communications are relevant to your role, and that it’s not always clear what action is required.
To address this, we’re introducing a new monthly South West Cheshire Newsletter. This will become the only regular mass communication sent by the District each month, replacing all existing mass mailings and the South West Express Newsletter.
The newsletter will include:
- News and updates from across the District
- Important information and forthcoming events
- Clearly categorised items showing what requires action, who needs to take that action, and what is simply for information
- Content tailored to your role and the section(s) you support
We’ll also keep the amount of text in the newsletter to a minimum wherever possible, providing links to posts on our website at www.swcscouts.org.uk where you can find full details and supporting information. This will make the newsletter easier to read while ensuring important information remains available on the website when you need it, without having to search through old emails.
We’d love Groups and volunteers to continue sharing details of their events, activities, and successes for inclusion. Submissions should be sent to the Media Team via mediateam@swcscouts.org.uk by the 15th of each month, with the newsletter being distributed to all active members on the last day of each month. Anything received after the deadline will be held over until the following month.
As the newsletter will be our primary method of District-wide communication, we won’t usually be able to accommodate short-notice requests for messages to be circulated. Please plan ahead to ensure your information can be included in the next edition. There will occasionally be exceptional circumstances where a separate communication is appropriate. For example, news of the death of a member of our Scout community will continue to be shared in a timely and sensitive manner rather than being held until the next newsletter.
A reminder that District communications will only be sent to the email address recorded as your Communication Email in MyMembership at scouts.org.uk. If this is not the correct email address, please update it in MyMembership. Our mailing lists are reconciled against MyMembership each month to ensure records remain accurate.
