If you’ve passed the Scout & Guide Shop on Bedford Street over the summer, you may have noticed there’s been plenty going on!
The building has been undergoing a significant refurbishment, including a complete electrical rewire, new lighting and heating, improved fire safety, redecoration and a general refresh of the shop itself.
Some work to the upstairs and the outside of the building will continue during September, so please bear with us while we put the finishing touches in place.
The shop will reopen for business on Friday 11 September. Do pop in and have a look at the improvements; we’d love to welcome you back and show you what’s changed.
We’re also pleased to announce that Sarah Wood has been appointed to the new role of Shop & District HQ Team Leader. Sarah will be a familiar face to many of you as she’s volunteered at the shop for a while already. She will now lead the team responsible for all aspects of the shop’s operation, look at ways to improve and modernise the shop, as well as helping us to make the most of the facilities at District HQ.
Upstairs, the District HQ rooms are also getting a much-needed update. The refurbished meeting and training spaces will be available for Groups and District teams to book from early October.
We’re looking forward to reopening the doors and seeing the building being used by volunteers from across the District again.
