On the 10th–11th of October, Scouts traded their way through a weekend at Milldale as patrols took on a day of challenges, deals and decisions at our first ever Trading Post camp.

Armed with Milldale Bucks, each patrol chose which contracts to tackle, bought the required materials and earned money by completing challenges. They then had to decide what to take on next and where to invest, with the aim of finishing as the wealthiest patrol.

The camp brought together practical Scouting skills, pioneering, cooking, crafts, performances and lots more. From exploring a cave for gold to preparing and cooking fish over an open fire, having a go at shooting and archery, and putting their creativity to work, patrols had plenty of different ways to earn their next payout.

Every activity was linked to badge requirements and over the weekend, the 132 Scouts in attendance completed an amazing 2,200 requirements between them!

At the end of the day, the Grizzly patrol from 28th Wybunbury were victorious, having earned the most Milldale Bucks.

We will certainly be running this event again! Chris and Simon would like to thank the leaders, volunteers and District Team members who helped run the camp, and of course the Scouts who took part.
